Student impressions

The trip to Romania was very tiring. We had to go by car to Oporto (Portugal), and then catch a plane to Frankfurl (Germany), where we had to spend five hours. We stayed in the airport, and I was with Alexandra and David so it was a pretty good time. The third step in our trip was to take a flight to Bucharest, and the last one was going to Drobeta by bus, with the guys and teachers from Cyprus. It lasted seven hours, and even we slept almost all the time on the bus, it was very tiring. So, we arrived in the town Cornelia and Valeria’s parents took us to their house. There, two other girls from Cyprus were staying with us, so we talked a lot with them. We could sleep for two hours, and then we had to go to the school to make our biology presentation. We were quite nervous, but everyone said it was good. In the school, some girls sang and danced for us. When we finished, we went to the hotel to eat and then, we spent all the afternoon walkin with all the girls. In the evening, we had our dinner at the hotel, where we stayed for a while, and then we continued our walk till night.
On the second day, we all went to the 'Iron Gates', and then we went to a kind of forest, where there was a monastery, and we carried out an activity about searching different plants and leaves. Then we went on a boat and it was very funny. During this time, I got toknow the Romanian boys better and we talked more. That night, we had a 'welcome party' in a hotel near our house. We had dinner and then, one by one, we danced traditional dances from Romania, Turkey, Spain, Portugal... . It was so funny.
The last day, we went to the forest again. First, we went to a cave, inside there was a really huge lake and we saw the "God's Bridge". Then, we went to another lake, called the 'Ghost Lake', because in summer you can't see it. Finally, we visited a town to make some shopping and then to dinner. The teachers and parents allowed us to go to a club, so some of us decided to go and have fun. We dressed and we went to the pub until 2:30 am. We went home by taxi because it was raining very hard, and we got so wet... Alexandra and I packed our luggage very late, at 3:00 am, and then we fell asleep. The next day, we said goodbye to our friends and we made the trip back home (with a little problem in Bucharest) but it was shorter this time, and we arrived home at 2:30 in the morning.
It was a great experience where I met incredible people, but I needed two days more to talk more with the people and make some friends, because for me the time was too short. But at the end, it is an experience that I wouldn't change, and I am still in contact with some people I met there, and I hope that I will be in contact with them for a long time, or maybe see them again, who knows...?

The Comenius meeting in Romania was really exciting. There were people from a lot European countries.
In my opinion the trip was too short; it was only three days and I think it had to be a week. Except that, everything was fantastic like the landspace, the Iron Gates the amazing lake Zaton and also the God's bridge. The people were friendly and kind.
It was a nice experience because I had never spoken in public and I was really nervous. I had never visited a new country without my family. I went by boat in the Danube River, I met people from different countries…
During the few days I spent in Romania I was able to see and create an image on my mind about the Romanian culture, nature and character in general. Romanian people were very friendly.
Romania also has great nature monuments as we saw at God’s bridge and Lake Zaton. The meeting in Romania provided me with a valuable experience and left me with great impressions.

The meeting in Romania was very funny, but it was very short. People were very nice, and I liked the food very much. The first day we met in the highschool with all students. The second day we went to a hydroelectric power station and then we visited the first Romanian churh. The third day we went on a boat in the Danubian river and I enjoyed that experience very much. The last day we went to a party in the the Tropical hotel and at night we went to a club. In the trip we saw a lot of things and the views were very beautiful. Romania is a fantastic country because it is where I was born. In the house , people were very nice, I felt really good. The students were very kind and funny. It was an amazing experience because we met a lot of people and they were very funny and interesting. The city was very interesting, too. Drobeta Turnu Severin is a historical town. Their traditional costumes are beautiful. The Danubian river is beautiful too.

Firstly, this may seem like an ordinary international project for a stranger, but it wasn’t. This was a big chance for us, not only to debate our issue, which is called ‘Invasive Species’. We were at Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania for 5 days. In 5 days, each of us had great memories. The thing is that, we felt nearly all the emotions there. After the presentations on the 1st day, we didn’t know what things are waiting for us. We knew that we had 4 more days to go sightseeing and admire the beauty of this country. Basically, we jaunted a lot. We were affected by the superb view of the city. Naturally, we travelled all the way through with our friends from other countries. We had met before with some of them, and we’ve just met with others. We laughed a lot, had fun and sometimes felt sad. We sometimes felt sad because of the natural events that can happen every time in life, but was that important? We were together.
During our trip, we had delicious tastes of some Romanian meals. Especially, I find the traditional soups very interesting and yummy. The sight of the city was perfect. We were lucky to have such a delightful view from our hotel rooms. Furthermore, the rivers were quite pleasing. Romania’s beauty is coming mostly from its nature. I adored the environment. It was such great to spend time in natural habitats.
The last thing is that, we met lot of people. Our hosts were very hospitable and thoughtful. We saw there that Romanian people are kind and hearty. Additionally, we gained some very important friends. They were with us along the journey. We shared our feelings. That had a huge importance for me.
As I conclude my paragraph, I’d like to complete with a nice quote, which reminds me the people I met during our Comenius project:

‘Good people are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.’

When I first heard that, I am going to Romania, I felt very happy because 1 month before I had a visitor from Romania and I thought that, to visit different places is such a good thing. Also the topic of our project was interesting for me and I wanted to learn more about it. Then time passed as a wind and I found myself at the airport with my teachers and friends. The trip after Bucharest was a bit long but it was also enjoyable with our group. We thanked god that we arrived to our hotel at midnight. I was hoping that I’ll have a good sleep but we woke up for our projects early in the morning. Then we had a great presenting with other 6 countries. Also Romania hosted us really good both in our hotel and in their school. I’m thankful about everything. In my opinion our second day was better because we had a fabulous boat trip and a great lunch all together. It was enjoyable. Also I liked the natural and historical places that we visited in the mornings. We got unhappy with a bad news on our last day but our forgetting party at night was great. Finally if I need to tell Romania with few words; it was very good and I love Romania also I missed Severin very much. And I make a lot new friends. I want to meet with them again. Happily I visit Romania. I’m thankful to everyone for everything…

The trip to Romania was tiring but really very funny. First, we went to Bucharest by plane. After that, between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. we had bus trip to Drobeta Turnu Severin. First day was like this. In the second day, we went to the school for presentations. After that, we travelled around Turnu-Severin. My friends and I were tired, so we slept too early.
On Friday we went to Iron gate dam, which is between Serbia and Romania. It has big power engines. Then, we went somewhere which is between mountains. After all, we had a party. We danced with Turkish music and the other cultures music. We had a lot of fun in this party and the day was very tired too.
Saturday, we went to Danube River, and we travelled for 4 hours. This river is natural border between Serbia and Romania. When we were in boat, we saw a sculpture which is on mountain. It was really amazing. Then, we went to a different town in Romania, we saw big caves and one more barrage. After all, we went to hotel and prepared our luggage.
The last day in Romania, we said goodbye to our new friends and we set out at 9 a.m. I had perfect time in Romania and I like Romania in all way. I had friends, and I’m still getting in touch with them.

I had expected that the trip would be good and it was. The trip to Romania and our school holiday were on the same time so we wanted to have fun in Romania and we had. We arrived to Romania in 4 hours but the bus journey was not easy like that. We stopped for having dinner so we learnt a lot of things about the Romanian culture. In the hotel we had a lot of fun. We stayed together with the other countries’ people. It was good for meeting. We went to a lot of places. We went to a mountain which is really green. There was a lake near the mountain. We danced on there. In a different day we went to a place and took some flowers and plants, after that we had a ship trip. It was awesome because we meet with a lot friends. At the night there was a good party. Of course we danced and had fun in it. At the end of the trip it was bad. It was bad to say ‘’Good bye’’ to our friends in Romania. I hope we will meet in the Turkey or in a different country…

Well, what I learned at Romania, being confident. Since, people who were with us was awesome. They are amazing. Places that we went were awesome. I don’t have words to describe them, especially, the natural ones. Adrian and Alex are the best guys in the world. Honestly I missed them. Because they are friendly and helpful. Shortly they are the true friends and I have good friendship with them even we are far away. We shared our pain, happiness, feelings, secrets,…They are really funny, especially Alex. He is really good dude. When we need something, Alex is everywhere. He tries to do best as possible as he can. Everything was awesome, the castle, the river, the party, the city, people of Romania… People of Romania are hospitable. Thank you for everything. I don’t what to say about what you did. Thank you. I owe you and I am thinking of going to Romania.

Eleven hours of travelling, eleven hours of stress and suspense! We were excited about what was expecting us but at the same time curious and anxious about the family that was going to host us as well as about the country in general. The whole process was something new and challenging for us. We arrived at 7 o’clock of Thursday’s morning. Chrystala and I were going to be hosted by the same family with other students and we were both feeling a bit awkward because we didn't know what to expect. Eventually, everything went perfect and there was nothing to be stressed about! We had the opportunity to be hosted by a family of amazing generous people with great manners and ethical values. Valeria and Cornelia were the girls who hosted us. On Tuesday morning we had the chance to visit their school, the high school of Saint Anthony’s together with the other students from other countries who were joining in the program. That night, after a walk in the city, we were too tired so Chrystala and I went to bed early. The next days we had the chance to visit indescribable sites, perfect landscapes as well as learn about the history and tradition of Romania. We learned phrases in Romanian language, traditional dances and food and reached to the conclusion that Romanians are lovable and hospitable people. No one of us wanted to leave after living five days full of amazing experiences! The mother of the girls, who hosted us, said to us that we can go anytime we want and stay with them and really touched us. We left by keeping in our minds the generous hospitality of local people, the passion to music and dance, unique food, heat and a constant smile. It was a wonderful experience, something that will stay in our memories for our whole life.

Travelling to Romania was a lifetime experience for all of us, and we were all very excited. It turned out that our enthusiasm wasn’t wasted as not only the hospitality was great, both from the teachers and the parents, but also our days were full of exciting activities and new adventures. Since the first day, we had the chance to visit Romanian’s magical lakes, rivers, mountains and Greenland’s. Apart from their natural beauty we also visited small villages such as Herculane, their Hydroelectric Power Station “Iron Gates” and the monastery of “Vodita” and “Saint Ann”. From this incredible experience we all had the opportunity to meet new friends that we hope to keep contact with, gained unforgettable memories, learned useful information about each country, their flora and fauna and absorb many interesting things from their speeches and presentations. We shared our feelings, meet and interact with new cultures and experienced something that not all students have the opportunity to. In addition to this, spending more time with our teachers made us realize the amount of time and effort they spend, in order for us to experience new things and teach us that what we gain depends on how much we try about it. This program encourages students to communicate and learn while having fun at the same time

When we arrived to Larnaca airport I was so happy because it was my first time flying with an airplane. During the flight we had a great time talking for what was expecting us in Romania, however it was very tiring. We bought some things from Duty Free and we traveled with the bus about 6 hours form Bucharest to Trobeta Turnu Severin. When we arrived at the hotel we met the students who would host us. We met their families and went to their house to relax for an hour. Then we went to their school, joined some activities and got informed about the participating countries. At night, we went to the welcome party and had an amazing time. Some of the other nights we went out to clubs with friends we made there and in some other we had a free time and just relaxed. The food in Romania was perfect and the people too genteel. Romania has perfect sights as well as beautiful huge rivers. I want to thank our teachers and the family that hosted me for the experience and the program Comenius.

                                                                                                                                  Alkis Asprogenous (Cyprus)

When we arrived at the airport, I knew I was going to have the time of my life. The first night was the most tiring night of all. However, when we finally arrived at the Hotel Continental I saw my host family waiting for me and I got my energy back.
I could see that my host family was glad that I would stay with them for five days. They made me feel a member of their warm and lovely family.
I will never forget the first meeting at the school, where we met everybody for the first time and where our friendship started or the trip to the “Iron Gates I” (Hydroelectric Power Station) to the Monastery, where the bus stopped working and we were walking down the street. Also unforgettable memories will be the Romanian evening, where we were dancing and singing traditional songs from all countries as well as the boat trip between Romania and Serbia, in where we saw the “Danube Gorge”.
These five days were a dream came true! Unfortunately, every good thing has an early ending! I would give everything to go back in time and live again these unforgettable moments with each one of the people I met there. We all became a big family and realized that the things that differentiate us are also the ones that brought us closer.

                                                                                                                       Chrysovalanto Panteli (Cyprus)

I had a really good time in Romania. All the activities that we had were unforgettable and through them we had the opportunity to learn more about the cultures of all the participating countries as well as show our culture.
The family that hosted me made me feel like home and I really felt that I found another family in Romania. All the people were very friendly and I really enjoyed spending time with them. All those trips we had, while we were in Romania, made us come closer and learn more things about each other.
It was once in a lifetime experience and I will never forget it. I wish that I will have the chance to go in Romania again and see all of them once again. Thank you all for giving me those special memories!

The time when I was in Romania wasn't wasted. We got to know new people and Romanian culture. It was the time when we summed up our researches about biodiversity of Europen rivers. This meeting was time to raise my skills in English. I couldn't miss opportunity to make better my English. I was impressed by Romanian hospitality. They hugged evryone, I have never seen this kind of greeting. They were very outgoing and open. If I could travel to Romania again, I would.
